History of Black Florida Program: Celebration of Black History Month at the Spady Cultural Heritage Museum

From the earliest settlers to the civil rights movement, and beyond, Prof. Evan Bennett, Asst. Professor of History at Florida Atlantic University,will discuss key events in the history of African Americans in Florida, as well as leaders in the struggles.
The staff will follow the talk with a short tour of the museum, which is dedicated to collecting and sharing the Black history of Palm Beach County, as well as an explanation of the the significance of the home of Dr. Spady, a prominent educator and community leader from 1922-1957. https://www.spadymuseum.com/
The organization was established in 1917, before women in America had the right to vote. Today we sponsor three distinguished national awards, and have a history of lively, educational and informative events.
The Women’s National Book Association is a national nonprofit organization which offers monthly programs, networking, and builds a community of people advocating for women in the book world. We provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information among book lovers and book professionals in 11 chapters across the country.
